Flora
There are three vegetation communities in the Reserve, the dominant one being the Coastal Banksia Woodlands. This consists of an overstory of Banksias with some Tea Tree and Coast Beard-heath. Coastal Scrub consists mainly of Coastal Tea-tree, Coast Beard-heath, White Correa, Coast Wattle and Coast Daisy Bush. The third vegetation community is the Coastal Grassland on the primary due, which is made up of Hairy Spinifex and the introduced Marram Grass.
Unfortunately there are many weed species within the Reserve, 10 of these being recorded as noxious weeds. Biological controls have been used to reduce the growth of Smilax and Polygala has been systematically hand weeded.

Fauna
Birds are the most common species to use the Reserve. These range from the coastal dependant birds like Silver Gulls, Cormorants and Gannets to the smaller bush birds like Yellow Robins and Honeyeaters. Many birds are resident whilst others use the Reserve as a corridor to move from one habitat to another.
There are healthy populations of many species of reptiles including three regionally significant species, Bougainville's Skink, Delicate Skink and White's Skink.
The number of mammals present are only a small percentage of what would have originally occured in the area. The Reserve would have been home to good populations of Short Beaked Echidna, Koala, Swamp Wallaby, Swamp Rat, Brown Bandicoot and Sugar Gliders, but these have been wiped out by loss of habitat and predation by cats or foxes.
Insect and fungi species vary from year to year depending upon weather conditions.
